Wonder Dynamics, an AI film company co-founded by Tye Sheridan, an actor/producer known for his work in Ready Player One, and VFX supervisor/filmmaker Nikola Todorovic, announced the official launch of Wonder Studio. This web-based AI platform is designed to revolutionize the film and TV industry by making the visual effects (VFX) process more accessible and affordable. By leveraging AI and machine learning tools, Wonder Dynamics enables filmmakers to produce VFX and CGI elements faster and at a significantly lower cost.
“We are filmmakers who, like many others in our industry, didn’t have the budget for the kind of sci-fi films we wanted to make. Therefore, we set out to create AI tools that eliminate the significant cost barriers” said Nikola Todorovic, co-founder and CEO of Wonder Dynamics.
Wonder Studio empowers artists to create films featuring CGI characters with just a few simple clicks, eliminating the need for complicated 3D software or expensive production hardware. The platform’s mission is to democratize CGI-heavy films and provide more opportunities for diverse voices to create visually stunning movies at a lower price point.
Key Features of Wonder Studio:
No production hardware required: The platform eliminates the need for specialized equipment like MoCap suits for motion capture. Instead, it analyzes footage from a single camera and automatically integrates actors’ performances, lighting, compositing, camera motion, and more into the live-action scene.
Streamlined workflow: Wonder Studio automates 80% – 90% of the frame-by-frame VFX work, leaving artists with the remaining subjective work. The output can be exported to popular software like Maya, Unreal, Blender, Nuke, etc., seamlessly integrating with existing post-production workflows.
Unlike many existing AI solutions, Wonder Studio ensures editability and control over fine details, enabling artists to make detailed edits to each element in the VFX process in 3D space.
Wonder Dynamics’ technology has already been adopted by Hollywood heavyweights, including The Russo Brothers, known for their work on films like Avengers: Endgame. Wonder Studio is currently being utilized on their upcoming film, Electric State, featuring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt.
Joe Russo, filmmaker and Wonder Dynamics advisory board member, commented, “Wonder Dynamics’ technology is a game changer for filmmakers, and it’s the right step towards a future in which AI can be a powerful and additive tool in an artist’s repertoire.”
Wonder Dynamics will be granting access to Wonder Studio to a limited number of artists during its Beta launch. Interested users can sign up on the Wonder Studio website.
Founded in 2017, Wonder Dynamics has secured impressive investors, including Horizons Ventures, Founders Fund, Epic Games, MaC Venture Capital, and Samsung NEXT. The company’s cloud computing infrastructure is powered by NVIDIA RTX Virtual Workstations with A10G Tensor Core GPUs running on AWS EC2 G5 instances.
